In Falsus Difficulty Levels: MIN, EVO, ULT and FBD Explained

The four tiers

TierFull nameLanesKnown level rangeWhat is new
MINMinimal41 to 3Fingers can stay in one place.
EVOEvolved54 to 7Both side lanes plus three middle lanes, and the active middle three shift during the song.
ULTUltimate68 to 10Every lane is live, so no lane goes dark to tell you where to be.
FBDForbidden610 to 12Wide notes that span several lanes. Press any one covered key.

The level ranges come from the chart levels page, which lists every chart published so far. Levels go up to 12 at launch, although pre-release descriptions said 1 to 11.

Why ULT feels like a wall

Two things change at once. The level jumps from EVO’s ceiling of 7 to ULT’s floor of 8, and the sixth lane comes on. Players coming from Arcaea described exactly this on the Steam forum: the demo’s EVO charts topped out at 6, the next step up was an 8, and key density roughly doubled. Another thread, from a player who managed Full Links on two EVO charts in their first two hours, calls the game “pretty good but not newbie friendly”.

The gentlest charts

Charts at the bottom of each tier, from the published levels:

  • MIN 1: Ghost Ray, Ordirehv, à la mode, New Vision.
  • EVO 4: Ghost Ray, Ordirehv, New Vision, Forbidden Souls.
  • ULT 8: Ghost Ray, Ordirehv, papillon blanc.
  • FBD 10: Ghost Ray, Ordirehv, WonderRoom2.0.

Ghost Ray and Ordirehv are the floor at every tier, and both are in the demo. Ghost Ray’s charts lean on long Field sections, so they are also good mouse practice.

The hardest known charts

Six FBD charts are level 12: Cryogenic, Cyaegha, MIRINAE, Deep Into The Vibe, Sin Utopia and ZFC. Of those with a published note count, Cryogenic FBD is the biggest at 1,870 notes. A Steam thread argues that Deep Into The Vibe’s ULT 10 plays more like an 11.

Difficulty also changes Encounters

In an Encounter, your total Power and Defense are multiplied by 1 + 0.05 × the chart level. A level 12 chart gives ×1.6, a level 2 chart ×1.1. Harder charts are worth more Encounter Score for the same accuracy, which is why the Encounters guide matters once you start chasing stars.

Should you play only one tier?

A Steam thread asks for more difficulty options within each key count, for example a hard four-lane chart. None exist yet: lane count and level rise together. The practical path is to clear a song on MIN, move it to EVO, and only then try ULT.
